Well, hello, there and greetings to you. It is matthew mcdonald, here and in this video we’re going to look at the premium pro features of the wp image drop and then we’re going to also pick up the api key for the unsplash. You don’t need it for all the premium features. You only need it for the cloud search. So we’ll do that in this video, as well so heading over to our wp image, drop we’re logged into wordpress here, i’m under media wp image drop.
If you need to get familiar with this, then check out the quick start guide. What i’m going to do now is just go through these super awesome premium features now before we actually navigate to other pages here, when you actually click this, let me just quickly mention. I have the premium pro version installed. If you want to check to make sure it’s installed, it will say premium pro up the top. If you don’t see premium pro up the top, then go ahead and reactivate your license.
Now, when we go ahead and click an image to use it straight away, we’ve got some super awesome extra goodness here, so we’ve got the raw option. You have this for all your images. So if you want to use an image in photoshop or in video production – and you want that high quality image – it’s not just for the web – it’s using videos and images or covers that you’re making. Then you can come here and get the raw version. You can just basically click the open link and it will load it up in your browser and then you can just save it from there directly to your computer.
So that’s going to be included in all your images, the same with the video sizes, so you’ve got some video sizes, small hd, full hd and 4k, the 4k one i would reserve for once again. If you’re doing video covers or something like that on your computer, you could use the 4k option if you wanted to load quickly on the web, i would use the hd 720p option if you are using it for a background. You can use that as well. Keep in mind most computer computer screens are these sort of resolutions as well. So it can be great for doing a full screen background for any kind of a web page or design that you’re working with.
So your video sizes are there available to you with the premium pro edition. So let’s go ahead and close this and we’ll jump over to the vault. Now the vault is super cool because it gives you access to all these images before you even head over to unsplash and start dragging images in now, the first time you load this page, it might take a minute or so because it’s going to go and get All the it’ll look up the api with your premium pro and look up all the references and link those up with your site. So the first time you load it. It might be a little bit slow.
It’S just going ahead and fetching those images and once you’ve got them available. Well, actually, it’s getting the reference to the images. Then you can go ahead and select an area there. We saw a little bit of delay. It’S going to fetch these.
These references for the first time, the second time, i’m reloading this page, it’s extremely fast, so there we go all these images are available to me and what you can do, if you click it, you’ve got all those links as well. We’Ve got our raw link there, which is exclusive for the wp image drop premium pro edition and we’ve got our video sizes as well. So with this, you’ve got something like about 25 000 images included in the image vault and they’re broken up into nice categories. Here you can choose your category and jump in there like that now, when you’re, actually in a post or a page and you’re editing that post or page the same is true when you click to add an image drop image, you can navigate to the vault and Pick an image from here. You can also come here for some inspiration.
If you need some ideas, pictures are great for getting you inspired. Next, we’ve got the cloud and this is going to be keyword based, so you can put in any keyword. You know what kind of image you’re looking for and it’s going to go ahead and search that before we can use the cloud option, we do need to pick up unsplash api key. So let’s go to the settings option here and we’ve got unsplash api. We just need an access key, so there’s a little link here to open up a new window, i’m going to go ahead and click that i’m already logged in.
So that’s a little bit of a shortcut. That’S probably not going to be helpful to you. So let me log out of here and see what happens when we go ahead and click that link now. So it’s going to take you to this join page and you can basically click facebook to login automatically. It will create an account for you or you can go ahead and fill this out when you do click the facebook option.
It’Ll create a free developer, account for you and then you can create your applications from here. So once you’re on this page, i’m just on forward slash applications, then you can just choose, create new app, so clicking create new app. You just agree to the terms and they give you 50 searches per an hour now over the course of a day. That’S a lot of searches, but if you do hit that limit and you’re doing more than 50 searches in one hour, then you just need to wait until the end of the hour and then you can keep searching. So you can just look at your clock.
Go okay: i’ve got a few few minutes to go. I’M going to come back to this later and you’ve got another 50 searches that you can go for. It so put your application name here. Your website address here, for instance, or some information that you know what this app key was generated for and then choose create application. It’S that easy, and now, if we scroll down the bottom here you can see here is my access key, and here is my secret key.
All we need is the access key here, so we can click to copy it here and then going back to our wp image drop settings. I’M going to go ahead and paste that in save changes and now we should be good to go with our cloud search. So go into our cloud search here we can put in any keyword here. So, for instance, let’s look for a beach image, and here you can see all these beach images are coming up, you can scroll down and you can load more options and then you can go ahead and click that and look at this imagine this you’ve got the Raw file access directly for any type of image that you’re looking for. If you want to load more, you do click there load more and it’ll, keep loading more images for you.
So there’s a quick walk through the premium features. You’Ve got. Your cloud gives you access to the entire api to the entire unsplash database of images. You’Ve got your vault, which are images ready to go and with all of your images, you’re going to have those extra video sizes and you’ve got access to the raw raw image. As well to wrap up this video, let’s go back to a page that we were editing in a previous video and now i’m going to switch this image over to something else.
So i’m going to choose the image here and on the side here in the wp image drop panel, i’m under image drop i’m going to choose change image. It’S going to open up a window here with my images, but because i’ve got the premium pro version. I’Ve got access to the vault and the cloud as well directly from here. So, let’s do a search here for lion, fantastic images, let’s go ahead and pick something here, so choosing this i’m going to go for the regular size in this example – and you can see i’ve just brought in this picture directly. That’S how easy it is!
That’S how quick and awesome it is now what we can do, let’s just spice this up to finish off the video i’m going to get rid of the content here. So we can see this line, i’m going to add a little bit of height there, and why don’t we go to the filters here? This one could do with a little bit more saturation and maybe a contrast and drop the color a bit just to give it a bit of a bit of an effect like that. So there we go. That is the premium pro version of wp image drop.
It really puts that whole unsplash database right at your fingertips and it’s going to make you more productive with generating pages and posts with beautiful images and hey, that’s a wrap. So i’m going to see you in another video very soon.
